new and noteworthy tv: 5/13-5/19

Catch-22

Took a week off so I’m a little behind on tv as things continue to wrap up. I didn’t even get in any movies on my flight but did catch a couple of episodes of Downton Abbey and Sabrina. More streaming stuff to consider.

  • LA’s Finest (Spectrum) Series Premiere, Monday – Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba pick up the thread of the Bad Boys franchise as cop partners that might not be revolutionary but leads might be enough of the right notes, though would that mean I would need to know what Spectrum is.
  • Catch-22 (Hulu) Miniseries Premiere, Friday – George Clooney is bringing the Heller novel to life with Kyle Chandler, and Hugh Laurie, worth a watch.

And some other stuff that’s starting on streaming that no one yet seems to know anything about:

  • Revisions (Net) Series Premiere, Tuesday – Japanese anime time traveling to future.
  • Well-Intended Love (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Chinese drama about a marriage to secure a bone marrow donation.
  • White Gold (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – An 80’s Essex cocky salesman (Ed Westwick) and his team in new comedy.
  • Chip & Potato (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Animated children’s comedy about a pug who starts kindergarten with her secret mouse friend.
  • It’s Bruno! (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Brooklyn native walks his dog (Bruno) around the neighborhood in this ‘offbeat’ comedy.

Returning streaming: Line of Duty (Acorn, Monday), Fleabag (Am). The Rain (Net, Friday).
