new and noteworthy tv: 5/20-5/26

Excited for the final season of Elementary to return on Thursday but otherwise happy to clear out some of the shows for a little catch up.

  • Blood and Treasure (CBS) Series Premiere, Tuesday, 10pm – Indiana Jones-esque Antiquities expert and art thief find themselves on the hunt for a terrorist and caught up in an ancient battle, not supposed to be all that which could be fine for summer.
  • All in the Family and The Jeffersons (NBC) Wednesday, 8pm – Jimmy Kimmel and Norman Lear host a live presentation of original scripts with actors including Woody Harrelson as Archie Bunker and Jamie Foxx as George Jefferson.
  • Name of the Rose (Sund) Series Premiere, Thursday, 10pm – Based on the Umberto Eco book which I read and have no recollection of about monk murders, has a promising case with John Turturro among others.
  • What/If (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Described as a neo-noir social thriller, Renee Zellweger among others.
  • French Open (Tennis) – First round play kicks off on Sunday with some Memorial Day coverage on NBC on Monday.

  • One Spring Night (Net) Series Premiere, Wednesday – A Korean romantic drama.
  • The High Seas (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Spanish mystery-drama of a ship murder set in the 1940s.
  • Pitching In (Acorn) Series Premiere, Friday – Recent widower is convinced to keep a holiday park run with the return of daughter and grandson.

Returning streaming: Slasher (Net, Thursday), She’s Gotta Have It (Net, Friday), Vida (Starz, Friday).
