new and noteworthy tv: 5/4-5/17

More shows are finishing up Abbott Elementary, Animal Control, and Going Dutch all stayed on my radar from ABC/Fox and shown on Hulu. And I added RJ Decker, ABC/Hulu, which proved to be a show I enjoyed with a good lead and fun enough caper solving. On the streaming front I finished up Young Sherlock on Amazon that was a good enough take on early adventures with a new twist on the Moriarty relationship. Big Mistakes on Netflix, the latest from Dan Levy a fun brother and sister getting in way over their heads with some local mobsters, it took me a minute to get into (partly because I hate a making things worse for themselves story) but ended up being fun. I also caught the new installment of Malcolm in the Middle on Hulu which honestly while I like the characters am not sure I found the original series all that funny and glad they got so many surrounding characters to return but since I barely remember them it might have been wasted on me. I also got a free month of streaming on Apple+ for sending someone a Venmo (who am I to question their partnerships), the latest season of Shrinking was a great binge over too soon.

Movie-wise I caught almost-engaging-in-a-made-for-tv-movie-way The Rip and the too-scary-in-the-wrong-way-for-me Apex both on Netflix. My fave of the recents was Dust Bunny on HBO which was so visually and thematically fun and brutal it took me by surprise. I also caught Wuthering Heights, also on HBO, but found it overall a bit hollow though visually interesting.
