We’re still all about the Olympics with closing ceremonies on Sunday. If you’re looking for more inspiring stories you can catch My Last Days (CW) Wednesday, 9pm for a docuseries that takes a look at folks with terminal illnesses and what they’re accomplishing. Or just tune in to Superstore (NBC), a show I ended up finding amusing, with a special Friday episode (which is apparently is standalone and outside the timeline that last season left off).
This week brings another Netflix show on Friday, Baz Luhrman’s The Get Down set in 1970s hip-hop world, it’s been described as a mess but with both good and bad things mixed in. And Hallmark’s Chesapeake Shores on Sunday based on the bestselling Sherryl Woods novel with a divorcee and mother returning home, which just sounds Hallmarky. And of course a lot more Olympics.
This week is all about the start of the Olympics. I tend to follow the sports that NBC deems important by placement in prime time but am particularly looking forward to Beach Volleyball, Swimming, and Tennis. Don’t miss, but don’t feel bad about fast forwarding through, the Opening Ceremony Friday, starting at 7:30. And then circulate NBCSN, USA (both of which actually start soccer on Wednesday), Bravo, MSNBC, and of course NBC. And you can dabble in some of the lesser seen sports like handball, rowing, fencing, archery, and perhaps judo.
For those of you who tired of the Republican National Convention (Various) we’ve moved on to the Democratic National Convention… And did I mention the new season of BoJack Horseman is out?

Well Wimbledon is over with so now to return to the queue and I’ll be adding Mr. Robot back in this week.

The Tunnel didn’t suck me in but not sure how much of that is having seen The Bridge, I’ll give it another to feel it out. I’ll also give another to Thirteen which was intriguing enough and the fun Queen of the South. American Gothic wasn’t as laugh out loud bad as I’d read it might be but it definitely wasn’t good. I’ve also finally finished Hemlock Grove which honestly just got worse with each episode. Tuning back into the latest season of Orange is the New Black and starting Roots.

From last week I think it was a pass on Wrecked, Uncle Buck, and Guilt. But Animal Kingdom is in and another look to be had at Brain Dead. This week I’m probably most optimistic for Thirteen if only because it’s on BBCA

Well I am definitely excited for the return of UnReal, and early critical buzz is it’s still good. Too much of last week was spent watching the so bad I can’t turn away Hemlock Grove on Netflix, I was after all looking for something junky.

So a long weekend to catch up on things and kick off the summer season. I’m looking to get back into my Mad Men, I’m only on Season 3, as well as finally knock out that last season of House of Cards. Plus I’ve got the second half of Walking Dead waiting for some daylight viewing. But first tennis for those of you not caught up in other sports finals.
