Looking forward to the return of the poetic and heartbreaking David Makes Man (OWN, 6/22) and the campy witchy Motherland Fort Salem (Free, 6/22), the crafty Making It (NBC, 6/24), and The Good Fight which I’ll have to wait a while for it to hit Amazon for purchase. But clearly if I had one thing to recommend it would be Bosch returning for its final season.

Jiva! (Net) Series Premiere, Thursday 6/24 – A street dancer in South Africa pursues her dancing dreams.
Sex/Life (Net) Series Premiere, Friday 6/25 – Sarah Shahi plays a married woman whose past comes back when an ex shows up.
Wimbledon (ESPN) Monday 6/28 – First-round play starts, so far sounds like no Nadal and no Osaka.

I actually knocked a few things off I’d been streaming Grace & Frankie (cute), Queer Eye (fun enough), Orange is the New Black (very uneven but some great elements in early and final seasons), Bosch (will miss his detective capers), and Upload (fun sci-fi romance romp) as well as a Hot in Cleveland rewatch (fun and fluffy). Still plugging away at others and thinking of diving back into a few dvr saves like the final season of Mr Robot.

In this round’s new launches Peacock comes out on Wednesday July 15 – and is apparently free, but not sure that applied so everybody. A quick google got me to Peacock TV which seems to indicate you need an X1 (xfinity device?) or a Flex (internet with an option like a roku?) with a basic level of service. Whether this will also be available online or with other smart devices is unclear but would seem like a bad move if not. There’s also a paid version that gets you ‘more’ but what that means is also unclear. I have to say if I bothered to look into this and I’m not sure about it it’s really not a good sign, but likely more clarity as the launch date approaches/passes.

Was It Love (Net) Series Premiere, Wednesday 7/8 – A single mother has four men come into her life in this South Korean drama.
Close Enough (HBOM) Series Premiere, Thursday 7/9 – An adult animated comedy about a married couple live in a shared space with their kid and their two divorced friends.
Japan Sinks (Net) Series Premiere, Thursday 7/9 – An ordinary family faces massive earthquakes in this Japanese animated comedy.
Breathe: Into the Shadows (Am) Series Premiere, Friday 7/10 – An Indian psychological thriller where a man and his wife delve into the case of their kidnapped daughter.
Little Voice (App+) Series Premiere, Friday 7/10 – A comedy about an aspiring singer trying to fulfill her dreams with music by Sara Bareilles.

Cleopatra in Space (Pea) Series Premiere, Wednesday 7/15 – An animated comedy based on a graphic novel where she is transported into the future and trains to take on bad guys and get back to her time.
Intelligence (Pea) Series Premiere, Wednesday 7/15 – An American NSA agent, David Schwimmer, joins a UK Government Communications Headquarters in this comedy.
Psych2: Lassie Come Home (Pea) Special presentation, I not that long ago did a Psych binge including the first movie only to find that this one wasn’t out yet, and would like to cross it off.
United We Fall (ABC) Series Premiere, Wednesday 7/15 – A new family comedy, with extended family.
The Secrets She Keeps (SundN) Series Premiere, Thursday 7/16 – Set in Sydney two pregnant women’s lives and secrets collide in this drama based on a novel.

new and noteworthy tv: 4/13-4/26

Ok now that I’m not trying to burn through movies I’m making a bit more progress on tv. I wrapped my rewatch of Beverly Hills, 90210, which was fun for about the first season and then became sort of an obsessive torture. I’m also digging in to Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Sex Education, Making the Cut, and have started Little Fires Everywhere, I really liked this book and am cautious, and of course Killing Eve which is usually worth it even if it’s not as good as the first season. And wrapped the series finale of Schitts Creek which I thought did a good final leg. I’ll miss those oddballs. It’s a pass for me on Broke and Vagrant Queen, but I’m so far sticking with Motherland: Fort Salem and still tentatively trying Almost Paradise, which I don’t think is good but hoping it might be fun. Next up I’m excited for the return of What We Do In the Shadows which is so odd I can’t stop watching, and the final season of fave cop Bosch.

Paradise Lost (Spectrum) Series Premiere, Monday 4/13 – Couple returns to small town Mississippi and secrets are unearthed starring Josh Harnett and Barbara Hershey among others, who knows.
The Baker and the Beauty (ABC) Series Premiere, Monday 4/13, 10pm – Reads like a made for tv movie, Cuban baker meets a superstar, but for romcom fans who knows.
Mrs. America (FX/Hulu) Series Premiere, Wednesday 4/15 – The story of the movement to ratify the ERA and the backlash of a conservative, includes a great cast with Cate Blanchett, Margo Martindate, Rose Byrne and Sarah Paulson among others so def worth a look.
Outer Banks (Net) Series Premiere, Wednesday 4/15 – A group of teens unearths a long buried secret, perhaps some potential in this mystery-thriller.
#blackAF (Net) Series Premiere, Friday 4/17 – Comedy series starring Rashida Jones and Kenya Barris based on Barris’ life, who knows.
Defending Jacob (App+) Series Premiere, Friday 4/24 – Based on the novel this thriller about an ADA torn between justice and family with Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery, maybe.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (Show) Series Premiere, Sunday 4/26, 10:10pm – An LA version of Penny Dreadful, no word but if you’re a fan of the original it’s likely a good bet.

Passing on The Code and In the Dark. And have still been sticking with Abby’s and Whisky Cavalier but not with much enthusiasm. I also don’t seem to have a ton of enthusiasm for What We Do in the Shadows but can’t quite stop watching. I’ve also finally started in on the new Project Runway and while I haven’t warmed to any of the judges yet you still can’t go wrong with the weekly challenges.

Wrapped the Marie Kondo series and while I am inspired by the messages of getting your belongings culled and organized to serve you for the future you want to create, other than the simple tips to fold and stack vertically, keep like items together, and divide with small boxes I didn’t find the instructions or the transformation stories exciting, time better spent cleaning my apartment.

No Good Nick (Net) Series Premiere, Monday – Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin lead a family that takes in a long lost relative who turns out to be a con artist is a pedigree for acceptable filler tv.
Bless this Mess (ABC) Series Premiere, Tuesday, 9:30pm – Happy to give a go to newlyweds played by Dax Shepard and Lake Bell as they try their hand at farm living.
Ramy (Hulu) Series Premiere, Friday – Good advanced buzz for this Egyptian-American Muslim trying to balance personal and family expectations.
Lunatics (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Mockumentary focusing on six subjects, who knows.

Trying to knock out some of the random premiering shows sitting in my queue so I don’t have to keep recording them. Gone are Alex, Inc., Splitting Up Together, Siren, Krypton, The Last O.G., Deception, Champions, Life Sentence, McMafia, Shoot the Messenger, and finally dropped Good Girls which had some potential but not enough with a tough backlog. Finally wrapped The Punisher and hoping to quell my need for completion when I find something is just dragging, but let me get through the latest season of Orange is the New Black first while taking break for more enjoyable Mindhunter (which I also finally wrapped, good but didn’t enjoy it quite as much as some raves I heard), Jessica Jones, Sneaky Pete, and The Tick.

In Contempt (BET) Series Premiere, Tuesday, 10pm – Legal aid office, sure.
Bosch (Am) Season Premiere, Friday – Excited to see what trouble he’ll get into this season.
Lost in Space (Net) Series Premiere, Friday – Danger, Will Robinson, with Parker Posey as Dr Smith I can’t help but hope this is a fun one.
Rellik (Cin) Series Premiere, Friday, 10pm – UK police detective tracking down a serial killer who has left him emotionally and physically scarred.
