Tonight on ANTM the ladies move into the house. Of course it’s a new crew of them but it’s never much of a difference. This week Ebony turned the bitchy torch over to Bianca, lost all her spark, and almost became the first week’s cut. The first week there’s not a lot to judge the girls on so if that first photo isn’t good you’d better be bringing it in person.
Mila, our first victim, was super annoying as she thought everything was great and positive and funny, including her ‘serious side effects of cigarette smoking’ photo shoot. So when the shots were awkward she got the ax. The smoking thing is part of Tyra’s bid to change the world, she’s not only trying to get the show to go green, but she’s forcing all the gals to quit smoking so as not to be bad role models.
The only thing worse than a tired bitchy wannabe model is a tired bitchy wannabe model who has suddenly been cut off from her cigarettes. Let’s hope she drops of some nicotine gum. (I of course endorse both going green and quitting smoking but there is just something annoying about the way Tyra does it) And of course there was the weekly challenge where they were advised on and told to pick modely clothes, every year they’re told to keep it simple and they really just never learn.
We’ve yet to get a real sense for all the girls, and there aren’t any real standouts for me, but in addition to the bitchy gals we’re getting a dose of bookishly awkward Yaley Victoria and the medically awkward Asberger syndrome sufferer Heather. And of course the gal that Biana picked on this week Lisa the former ‘bikini dancer,’ who is actually not bad. Sadly I can’t wait for next week’s episode.

As those of you familiar with my day job will know, I heartily endorse Tyra’s anti-smoking stance! I hated all those scenes in previous cycles of gorgeous thin women sitting around the patio smoking — terrible, terrible, endorsement! Of course, as you suggest, arbitrarily cutting the women off from their ciggies is going to lead to a lot of mood swings that will undoubtedly make for good tv!
Listen – the only bitching I here is from you procrastinator! I only watched one episode of of antm last year, and judging from your first post on this show, I think I’ll keep the set off and just read your round up. thanks alot – its great fun.

Also, can we reopen a dialogue about the view – I don’t want to drag politcs into this but – how does one come to terms with the fact that one of the host thinks the earth is flat and evolution is some scientific mumbo jumbo. PLEASE – WE’RE DUMB ENOUGH AS IT IS – NO HELP NEEDED!
monday night football?!? Please… the only sports I can even come close to being able to address are tennis, beach volleyball, cycling, and vert skateboarding. unless you consider modeling a sport, which I could probably make a case for….

as for the view, i hate to stand up for the religious, but i kind of felt bad for her because apparently she says she didn’t hear the whole do you think the earth is flat question because she was so flustered for having to defend her non-evolution stance (which she totally believes) that she didn’t even hear the question or know what she said until everyone called her on it afterwards… she apparently is down with round.

well…i have to say that i’m a bit underwhelmed by the candidates this year. they are, how shall i put this, quite homely. as our regular watcher and criticizer friend pointed out, no latinos or asians this year. i guess they decided two seasons was enough. as much as i normally root for the one smart girl, this year’s token is really freakin’ annoying AND routinely has this shocked look like she’s just walked in on her roommate doing something nasty. my faves so far are the exotic dancer and ebony – that is, if she can stop all the incessant weepin….
yeah, i’ll give them another episode or two to whelm me, but in person and the photos on the site are not attractive, and what’s with the variety of ‘student’, ‘college student’, ‘nursing student’ and ‘college graduate’ as occupations, really? i guess my vote is for the ‘dancer,’ ‘receptionist’ or ‘aesthetician’
